About Stuart

Professor Stuart Robson FRICS is Head of Department of Civil, Environmental and Geomatic Engineering. His research focus is in the field of the traceable metrology of engineering, medical and heritage structures using photogrammetric image sequences and laser scanning. He is a member of the ATI Aerospace Structures Specialist Advisory Group.

Recent industrial projects include wing surface metrology (Airbus/NPL/EPSRC), digital validation of manufactured engine shape (Rolls-Royce/NPL), robotic inspection of beryllium tiles (UKAEA/EPSRC), non contact railway track monitoring (NetworkRail/EPSRC) and wind tunnel and spacecraft metrology (NASA Langley).

He leads the 3DIMpact research group at UCL and is the Engineering lead for experimental robotics on a new 4000m2 UCL site in the Olympic Park. Stuart currently supports 8 PhD students and has contributed to some 200 publications including key textbooks on photogrammetry.
