About Harshana

Harshana Dantanarayana was born in Colombo, Sri Lanka, in 1984. He received his B.Eng. (Hons.) degree in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Nottingham, Malaysia in 2008, and Ph.D. in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2012. His doctoral research was based on electromagnetic simulation and fabrication of optical micro-resonators based on chalcogenide glasses and was funded by the Dean of Engineering research scholarship. Upon completion of his Ph.D., he worked at the University of Nottingham until October 2013 on electromagnetic simulation software project funded by Cobham plc. In October 2013, he joined the Optical engineering research group at Loughborough University as a research associate on the Light Controlled Factory project.
His current research interests include object recognition, high-resolution 3D imaging, non-linear optical resonators and electromagnetic modelling. His expertise include C/C++ programming, advanced algorithms and data structures, BSD operating systems. He also conducts an intensive C++ workshop for engineering research students and staff at the University of Nottingham.
